 What is a software ?

Software is a set of instructions, data or programs used to operate computers and execute specific tasks. It is the opposite of hardware, which describes the physical aspects of a computer. Software is a generic term used to refer to applications, scripts and programs that run on a device. It can be thought of as the variable part of a computer, while hardware is the invariable part.

In other words, A software or computer software essentially a type of programs which enable the users to perform some particular specific task or actually used to operate their computer. It essentially directs all of the peripheral devices on the entire computer system- what exactly to do and how exactly to perform a task. A software plays a key role of a mediator between the user and the computer hardware. 

In the absence of software, a user essentially can’t perform any task on a computer. A software product development company is the one which develops software for the users.

2. Application Software

System Software is a set of programs that control and manage the operations of computer hardware. It also helps application programs to execute correctly.

System Software are designed to control the operation and extend the processing functionalities of a computer system. System software makes the operation of a computer more fast, effective, and secure.

In other words we can say that System software is software designed to provide a platform for other software.

What is Application Software? 
Application software is a term which is used for software created for a specific purpose. It is generally a program or collection of programs used by end users. It can be called an application or simply an app.

In a simple words we can say that A software which is developed to help the user to perform a specific tasks is called application software.

Application Software acts as a mediator between the end-user and System Software. It is also known as an application package. This type of software is written using a high-level language like C, Java, VB. Net, etc. It is a user-specific and is designed to meet the requirements of the user.
